Terms of Service

Last updated: 11 June 2026

[PLACEHOLDER — these terms are a structural draft and require legal review before launch.]

These Terms govern your use of Group Lending. By creating an account or joining a group, you agree to them.

Eligibility & accounts

You register with a verified phone number and are responsible for activity on your account. You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement under applicable law. [PLACEHOLDER — confirm minimum age and eligibility with counsel.]

Groups govern themselves

Group Lending provides tools for groups to organise their own savings, lending, and payouts. Each group sets its own rules — contribution amounts, interest methods, loan limits, payout order, and leadership — and is responsible for its own decisions. We record and enforce what your group configures; we are not a party to your group's arrangements and do not provide financial, legal, or tax advice.

The ledger

Financial activity is recorded in an append-only ledger. Entries are not edited or deleted; corrections are made as new, visible entries. You agree that the ledger is the record of your group's activity within the service.

Money movement

Payments and payouts may be made through mobile-money providers such as M-Pesa, or recorded manually by a group officer. Group Lending is not a bank, deposit-taker, or licensed financial institution, and does not hold your funds. [PLACEHOLDER — confirm regulatory positioning with counsel.]

Advertising

The service is free for groups and supported by clearly-labelled advertising from financial institutions. Advertisements do not constitute an endorsement, and any dealings with advertisers are solely between you and them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service, including by fraud, unauthorised access, or using it for unlawful purposes.

Liability

The service is provided "as is". [PLACEHOLDER — insert limitation-of-liability and warranty disclaimers as advised by counsel.]

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. [PLACEHOLDER — confirm jurisdiction and dispute resolution with counsel.]
